The store front is closing

For those of you who have not heard, Woolderness, Fiber Arts Studio is closing its doors.  After much thought and consideration, I have decided it is time to slow down.  I have truly enjoyed the last 8 years...yes, it has been 8 years.

I want to thank everyone who has come through the doors of Woolderness and supported me.  Your business was and is appreciated. I tried to make Woolderness a unique experience for everyone!

I will have a studio in my home and certain items will still be for sale.  My website will be changing somewhat.  I will also continue to teach spinning and weaving in my home, possibly twining too.

Thanks for the memories!

I am working very hard to offer new and exciting items for sale.  Some of the old will be gone and new is coming in.  I also hope to be offering several new classes or new twists on old classes!

This month I will be featuring the art work of Rick Shapero and Randy Dunn...enjoy!

Artist, Jan Sitz

Porcelain goat, boy fishing and "Wee" babies --all hand poured, painted, dressed and embellished -- one of a kind, to be sure!

Featured Artists

Each month I am going to post pictures of the art from two artists who contribute to Woolderness, Fiber Arts Studio.  This month I am showing the work of Diane Keighley -- nuno felted silk scarves and wool slippers, and Jan Sitz -- heirloom porcelain dolls!

Diane is a summer resident of the Les Cheneaux Islands.  She is an expert knitter and is a welcome addition to our Thursday knitting group during the summer.  She also teaches nuno felting at Woolderness.

All her scarves and slippers come in a variety of colors and styles.   You can call Woolderness for more specific information - 906-484-1258!

Old Fashion Towels

I love making these old fashion, 100% cotton dish towels.  They look like the ones "grandma" used way back when.  They come in a variety of colors:  red, blue, green, yellow & black.

Winter is here!

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family -- all my kids were home!

I drove Richard to Detroit Metro Airport yesterday and ran into my first snow storm on the way home just past Saginaw.  Not fun.  I left the Flint area around 3 p.m. and arrived in Cedarville at 10 p.m.  I did stop and pick up some groceries, but 6 hours to get home was awful (1 hour of shopping if you are doing the math).

Woolderness will be open weekends from now until Christmas.  I would call first if you are coming from a distance -- things do come up and I have to close.

I will be having demonstrations on weaving, spinning, rag rugs, needle felting and locker hooking during the "Inside the Artist's Studio...A Christmas Open House."  You will have the opportunity to try all of them, if you wish!  The event goes from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on December 14.  Eight studios are participating.  Postcards and maps are available around town -- Cedarville Foods, Les Cheneaux Community Library, the Chamber and Woolderness!  Hope to see you there!
