Inside the Artists' Studio...A Christmas Open House

SAVE THE DATE:  Saturday, December 8 from 12 - 6 p.m.  Five local artists are opening their studios for YOU!  Plan to spend the day visiting these studios...you will probably be able to complete your Christmas shopping.  The artists participating are:

Nancy Stuhler
Roger Kilponen
Woolderness (featuring the artwork of 9 local artists)
Cedar Shore Soap
Heerspink & Porter Pottery

Maps are available at Woolderness!

Angora anyone?

Stop by the studio and meet Chessie - my English angora bunny.  Not only will you find her "hopping" around, you will also find her in the "roving."  I am blending angora with merino for a "yummy" soft and fuzzy yarn.  I am dyeing it "beach glass" and "mackinaw bay", but will also dye to your request.

I will also custom blend for you...just let me know what you want!

Meet "Chessie"

Meet "Chessie" the newest addition to Woolderness!

She loves to hide behind the baskets of wool!

She also loves to "hop" around the studio.
These pictures are long overdue!  These are the two classes I taught at the Northern Michigan Lamb & Wool Festival in West Branch.

Punch Needle Embroidery AND Felting.

Northern Michigan Lamb & Wool Festival

This is my "felting" workshop.  The ladies are busy needle felting coasters.  When they finished, we threw them in the "wonder washer" and wet felted them!

I am very sorry that I have not posted anything on my blog for such a long time.  I hope to do so very soon.  I have a new addition to Woolderness...her name is Chessie and she is an English angora bunny.  She is keeping me company in the studio.  She loves to hop around and hide behind the baskets of roving!

Chessie's fur will find its way into our roving, i.e., merino/angora, border leicester/angora, to name a few.  Stop by a meet Chessie!

Woolderness has a new look!  Yes, I am remodeling, rearranging and ADDING to the studio.  I am making room for more ART.  Woolderness will not only be a studio/store for your fiber needs, but we will also be an art gallery for our local artists -- Rick Shapero (handblown glass), Heerspink & Porter Pottery, photography by several artists, jewelry by Alaina Clarke, Katie Eberts (watercolor), baskets by Margie DeNoyer, silk scarves and wool slippers by Diane Keighley and more.

I will keep you informed as progress is being made.

ART IN THE PARK

Don't forget to come to Cedarville this Saturday for ART IN THE PARK -- sponsored by the Les Cheneaux Area Artisan Cooperative.

10 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Cedarville Park (by the Gazebo).

Rambling Rows

This beautiful afghan was knit using "Mill Ends" (Shepherd's Wool).  Thank you Fran and Mary for sharing this with us.  The pattern, "Rambling Rows" is available at Pickle Point and the Mill Ends are available at Woolderness!

The "Process"

Here is how the scarves are constructed...so much fun to see how they are transformed!

Nuno Felted Silk Scarves

The ladies are very busy creating their beautiful silk scarves at a workshop taught by Diane Keighley.  Woolderness offered 3 classes for silk scarves this summer.  I can't wait until Diane lives in Les Cheneaux full time so we can offer classes all year 'round!
