Old Fashion Towels

I love making these old fashion, 100% cotton dish towels.  They look like the ones "grandma" used way back when.  They come in a variety of colors:  red, blue, green, yellow & black.

Winter is here!

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family -- all my kids were home!

I drove Richard to Detroit Metro Airport yesterday and ran into my first snow storm on the way home just past Saginaw.  Not fun.  I left the Flint area around 3 p.m. and arrived in Cedarville at 10 p.m.  I did stop and pick up some groceries, but 6 hours to get home was awful (1 hour of shopping if you are doing the math).

Woolderness will be open weekends from now until Christmas.  I would call first if you are coming from a distance -- things do come up and I have to close.

I will be having demonstrations on weaving, spinning, rag rugs, needle felting and locker hooking during the "Inside the Artist's Studio...A Christmas Open House."  You will have the opportunity to try all of them, if you wish!  The event goes from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on December 14.  Eight studios are participating.  Postcards and maps are available around town -- Cedarville Foods, Les Cheneaux Community Library, the Chamber and Woolderness!  Hope to see you there!

Woolderness is open from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. And Sunday from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

We have a lot of new items this season:  new sizes and colors of our wool slippers, a new shipment of alpaca socks have arrived too!

A new item from artist, Margie, is cork trivets.

We have rag rug hotpads, locker hooked wool hotpads and locker hooked fabric hotpads -- a great selection for you to choose from.

New Needle Felting Kits are being assembled as I write this blog -- flowers, fish, sheep, mermaid, butterfly and girl with a fish balloon.

Demos are going on all weekend -- rag rugs, weaving, felting and spinning -- just ask!

The Christmas season has begun-- enjoy!

Aunt Susan shawl update #2

Finally....an update on the "Aunt Susan shawl".  I am on Block #16.  All the colors are coming together..using different yarns with different texture, but don't worry, once "blocked" they will all even out and look great!

Hopefully, I will have update #3 in a few weeks. I just love this project.  This shawl is so much fun to knit!

The Aunt Susan Shawl update!

I have started the shawl for Aunt Susan and it is looking pretty good.  I am going with greens, purples, pansy, white with a touch of reds/oranges.  The color on the left is not black, but plum.

I am using mostly Shepherd's Wool, but of course I have to throw in some hand spun,  angora and even silk!

As I progress, I will post pictures, so check back often.

Did you start your shawl?

Welcome to Woolderness!

The stairs leading up to Woolderness is packed with beautiful art work!
We have many new NEEDLE FELTING kits...all have Katie Eberts' designs.  These make great gifts!

New DESIGNER FABRIC bags!
