Announcing a new workshop ...even before it gets put on my website!
Rag Rug workshop. In this class you will make a "twined" rug, (30" x 25") or placemats (17"x12"). We will start on Friday late afternoon, continue on Saturday, and finish up on Sunday if needed. If weekends do not work for you, we can make arrangements during the week -- day or evening.
You will go home with a beautiful rug or a set of placemats (as many as you can make). I provide the frames and you bring your own fabric -- at least 4 yards for a rug and 2 yards for each placemat -- but I am just guessing. Bring a LOT of fabric. You can use 100% cotton or wool or a wool blend. Bring a variety of colors. I like to recycle, so I use old clothing -- what a wonderful way to repurpose your children's outgrown clothing!
The cost of the class is $58. The frame is not included with the class. I will provide water, coffee and tea and your box lunch on Saturday. Each workshop is limited to 3 rug makers and 3 placemat makers.
What a fun way to spend a weekend! Get your friends together and learn this wonderful technique of TWINING. I will show you all the great things you can create!
Call me at 906-484-1258 to sign up. Weekend workshops begin in June. Day/evening workshops can begin in May.

What a glorious day it is...the sun is out and we don't need to wear a coat! The windows are open and I am listening to the birds sing...put it all together and I am getting very excited for our annual SPRING FLING in May -- 17-19 -- at Northwoods Christian Camp near Pickford.
I will be teaching two classes -- twined basket and needle felting on clothing! There might still be room in the classes. If you need a brochure, let me know. I can send you one!

Beaumier Heritage Center in Marquette
On Saturday, March 23, I had the opportunity to be a part of the Upper Peninsula Folklife Festival in Marquette, Michigan at the Beaumier Heritage Center on Northern Michigan University's campus!
There were 12 ladies in my class and they learned the weaving technique called "twining." They all walked away with a hotpad-size piece, made from recycled clothing.
It was a fun afternoon. I enjoyed my weekend in Marquette...thank you!
